Eugene Flood Joins C Street’s Board of Advisors

C Street, a strategic advisory firm helping CEOs meet the moment, today announced the appointment of Eugene Flood to its Board of Advisors.

Eugene Flood, Ph.D. is an economist, executive-level business leader, and investment management expert.


He is a Managing Member of Next Sector Capital, LLC, a newly formed private equity firm focusing on impact investing. Since 2013, he has also served as the Managing Partner of A Cappella Partners, a family office centered on business, for profit, and not-for-profit board activity, community service, and philanthropic efforts. Previously, Eugene was an EVP, member of the Executive Management Team, and member of the Board of Trustees of TIAA-CREF, and President and CEO of Smith Breeden Associates, a Durham, N.C.-based asset management firm.


Earlier in his career, Eugene worked at Morgan Stanley, where his thinking and work contributed to some of the first quantitative finance systems used on Wall Street. He has managed large businesses and overseen investment strategies during two of the largest crisis periods in recent history: the stock market crash in 1987 and financial crisis in 2007-2008.

Eugene is a former member of the faculty of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business (GSB), where he specialized in international finance. He has lectured in graduate and executive programs at the GSB, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, the Nomura School of Advanced Management in Tokyo, and the International Management Institute in Geneva.


Eugene is a member of the Board of Directors of Janus Henderson Group. He serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the University of North Carolina Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases, a world-renowned center focused on stopping the transmission of AIDS, among other health issues. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Research Corporation for Science Advancement; the Steering Board for the Eshelman Institute, an accelerator for transformative intellectual property ideas and products in healthcare; and the Advisory Council of the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream.


He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University.
