Mona Aboelnaga Kanaan 

Managing Partner, K6 Investments

Mona is an experienced CEO, serial entrepreneur, investor, and corporate director with more than 30 years of global finance and investment experience.

She has a proven track record of building thriving businesses by decisively defining and implementing long-term strategic plans, recruiting and motivating winning teams, establishing focused goals, and sourcing, executing, and managing transformative strategic transactions and investments in global markets. 

Mona is Managing Partner of K6 Investments, a private investment firm she founded in New York to investing in a wide range of industries and advising companies as they expand into increasingly complex and interconnected global markets. Previously, Mona pioneered GP Stakes investing as President and CEO of Proctor Investment Managers, which she co-founded in 2002. She sold the firm to National Bank of Canada in 2006, acquired affiliates managing nearly $14 billion in assets under management, and continued as Proctor’s President and CEO until 2013. 

Mona is a member of the Board of Directors of Sterling Bancorp (NYSE: STL), Chair of its Audit Committee, and a Member of its Executive, Enterprise Risk, and Credit Committees. She is the first U.S.-based Member of the Board of Directors of Perpetual Limited (ASX: PPT), a global investment manager with $80 billion in assets under management. With a passion for financial inclusion and innovation, Mona is a board member and Audit Committee Chair of FinTech Acquisition Corp VI, and also serves on the Board of Advisors of Ibancar, and on the Advisory Board and FinTech Task Force of Dubai-based Global Ventures. 

Previously, Mona served as a Director of Siguler Guff Small Business Credit Opportunities Fund, Peridiem Global Investors (on behalf of National Australia Bank), Proctor Investment Managers, and Conquest Capital Group. She is a Trustee of The Chapin School, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and International House New York; a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Capital Campaign Steering Committee; and a Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

A recognized expert in private equity, asset management, entrepreneurship, Mona is a frequent speaker and commentator in forums and publications such as the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank, Pensions & Investments, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, New York Magazine, HFM, FundFire and The Private Equity Analyst. She earned a B.S. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
