From the Clinton White House to BigLaw, Melissa has 20+ years of experience in law, government, and politics with a focus on crisis and management-side employment experience.

Melissa’s career began in the West Wing of the Clinton White House where she worked for Cheryl Mills and Beth Nolan in the Counsel’s Office. She was part of the team that defended President Clinton during the House Impeachment and subsequent Senate trial.

Most recently, Melissa was Senior Counsel at the New York Genome Center, where she provided legal guidance on data privacy, governance, employment, tax, contract, intellectual property, and general corporate issues.

From 2015 until 2017, Melissa was Associate General Counsel at the Clinton Foundation where her role included responding to the increased scrutiny of the organization during Secretary Clinton's presidential campaign. Before that, Melissa was a litigator at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP and Paul, Weiss, Rifkin, Wharton & Garrison, LLP. Her practice focused on management-side employment law, white collar criminal defense, regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and complex civil litigations.

From 2000 through 2002, Melissa managed Public Policy and Community Affairs at Oxygen Media, developing on-air/online programming and establishing partnerships with cable operators and non-profit organizations to promote Oxygen’s business objectives. Under her leadership, Oxygen received a Mark Award for the best Public, Community Relations & Event Marketing program for her work directing Oxygen’s Choose to Lead advocacy campaign aimed at increasing the number of women in elected positions.

Melissa is on the DNC’s National Finance Committee. She is now the Finance Chair of Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin’s 2022 re-election campaign and served as the Campaign Finance Chair for his 2021 campaign for New York City Comptroller. She has served on the Finance Committee for Ray McGuire for Mayor and the National Finance Committees for the presidential campaigns of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Hillary Clinton. In 2016, Melissa co-founded the DUMBO Action Committee (DAC), growing it to over 500 members to become the leading community advocacy and service organization in its area in Brooklyn.
