What We're Looking For

C Street is looking for an energetic, team-oriented consultant to become a core member of our DEI Advisory team as an Associate. We are a small, highly collaborative unit bringing new approaches to DEI work and you will have the opportunity to grow with us. Our DEI team is based in New York and Chicago, but this position could be geographically remote for the right candidate.

What You Will Do

  • In collaboration with the rest of the team, develop plans to help clients mature their DEI programs.

  • Conduct interviews with client stakeholders and other data collection

  • Write, review, and edit client deliverables such as strategy recommendations, evidence-based organizational culture assessments, and program evaluations

  • Lead inclusive leadership and DEI strategy trainings with top executives in the private, non-profit, and public sectors

  • Compose occasional research-based products for public circulation and thought leadership

  • Work on cross-functional projects the entire C-Street team, getting hands on experience across the firm.

What You Will Need

Key Qualifications

  • Substantive expertise and interest in issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in complex organizations

  • Experience in DEI consulting, strategic advising, management consulting, executive coaching, or similar work

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong analytical background

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex and sensitive topics

  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities and multiple projects in fast-paced corporate environment

  • Willingness to learn new concepts in a fast-changing field

  • Responsive, collaborative, and productive on geographically dispersed team.

  • Willingness to participate in and foster team building, maintain culture of collaboration, and promote mutual learning and growth

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or equivalent, Zoom conferencing, secure file transfer, and other modern office software, or ability to learn quickly

  • Ability to adapt professional approach to different kinds of organizations according to client needs

  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with senior level executives

  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination or legally acceptable exemption

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in related fields, including Black/African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or similar fields

  • Track record of thought leadership and public engagement in DEI, social science research, or similar fields

  • Familiarity with quantitative research approaches (data science, survey analysis, statistical analysis) and willingness to learn new techniques

  • Experience with qualitative interview techniques and focus group moderation

  • Experience in DEI training in corporate settings

  • Experience in data analysis and visualization

  • Willingness to travel to clients for trainings or consultations
